Upcoming Events for 2014

I am now teaching at my studio!  I will be running 8 week sessions and 4 week sessions with a maximum of 8 students.  I also have a Portrait Class in addition to the Pastel classes.  For more information, please email me at joan@joanlarson.com or call the studio at  250-752-0395

Feb. 6 – Mar. 27th “Pastels Class” at Creekside Studio.  The class runs from 1:00 – 3:30 weekly on Thursday afternoons for 8 weeks.  One make-up session will be offered at the end at no charge.

May 1 – 22nd – “Pastels Class” at Creekside Studio.  From 1:00 – 3:30 weekly on Thursday afternoons for 4 weeks.

May 24 & 25th – Central Island Artisans Studio Tour.  Creekside Studio will be among the many studios open for this annual Studio Tour.  Please drop by and see the new work.  http://centralislandartisans.com/

June 7 & 8th – “Pastels” at the Coast Collective Gallery in Victoria.  A 2 day intensive workshop for all skill levels.

August 2 – 30th, 2014 – “The Wild Horses of Sable Island” show at the MacMillan Arts Centre in Parksville, B.C.  Opening Reception, Saturday, August 2nd from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.   The Opening will be followed immediately  by a slide presentation of photos from Sable Island.

August 5th & 7th, 2014 – “2 Pastel Workshops” at the McMillan Arts Centre.  Take one, or take them both.  $90.00 for one, or $170.00 for both days.  Some started sets of pastels are available.  Contact me to register or for more information, 250-752-0395 or joan@joanlarson.com.

August 18th – Sable Island Presentation to Parksville Probus

Oct. 24 – 26th – The Mane Event in Chilliwack.  I will have a booth featuring the Sable Island artworks as well as giving slide presentations and talking about my experiences on Sable Island daily in the Demo Ring.

Sept. 21 – 29th – “Quartette” A show at The Coast Collective Gallery  in Victoria, BC.  This show will feature Joan’s art alongside artist extraordinnaire Sherry Mitchell.  Sherry (Joan’s partner at Signature Studio at The Old School House in Qualicum Beach) is one for the foremost botanical artists in North America today.  To view some of her amazing work, please visit her website at:  http://arrowsmithfca.ca/sherrymitchell/

Aug 27 – 30th – I will be on Sable Island again (weather permitting that is) to photograph and paint the wild horses.

Aug. 3 & 4th – “In Celebration of Canada”  at Arbutus Meadows Equestrian Centre, Nanoose Bay, BC.  This is the first time the artworks will have been shown in conjunction with the RCMP Musical Ride!!!  Please join us to celebrate this event to watch when we unveil the newest image in the Musical Ride series.

July 13 – “Open House” at Signature Studio (located on the lower level at The Old School House in Qualicum Beach).  Join artists Sherry Mitchell, Sheila Warren and myself from 10:00 – 4:30.  We have lots of new artworks and a whole new look to the gallery.

Mar. 2nd –  “The Art of the Horse” one day workshop at Blennerhassett Equestrian Centre, Salt Spring Island.  We are hoping to make this a regular event.  For more information, please contact Kim Davidson at:  becbarnkim@gmail.com

June 6th –  Presentation to the Probus Club in Nanoose Bay about “The Wild Horses of Sable Island”

June 18th – 24th, 2012  –  “In Celebration of Canada” a showing of the Musical Ride series at the Parksville Community & Conference Centre.  Opening ceremony on Monday, Jun. 18th from 4 – 6 p.m.

July 14 & 15th  –  Joan has been asked to be one of the judges for the Sand Sculpting Competition in Parksville, BC

July 21st  –  Moss Street Paint-In with the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.  Joan will be at booth #65 between May & George Streets (closer to Dallas Rd.).

July 27 – 29th  –  “Art of the Horse Workshop” at Blennerhasset Equestrian Centre on Salt Spring Island.  For more information contact Kim Davidson at becbarnkim@gmail.com
